Anxious And Avoidant

Oh how I missed Lady J. Since moving our counseling sessions to every other week, she took a vacation, leaving me to my own shenanigans, and two full pages of notes to discuss Thursday when we had our session. I was excited to tell her about my experiences and how I had handled life. She had me take an attachment style quiz and assigned me homework to learn more about myself before we meet again in 2 weeks. I love how she challenges me.

The purpose of my homework is to help me understand my past and to heal from the pain I still feel. I took the quiz at www.attachmentproject.com and wasn’t surprised by the results. I landed right smack in the middle of anxious and avoidant, also referred to as disorganized. That word is unacceptable to me, I’ll refer to it as A&A for short. When I don’t understand something, it causes me to feel anxious and hurt. It nags at me and weighs heavily on my heart. Learning the reasons and processing the logic allows me to process and move forward.

Last night, I received the book Attached by Amir Levine, M.D. and Rachel S.F. Heller, M.A. from Amazon and this morning, I started reading it. After meeting with my sponsor yesterday morning, we went to a speaker meeting luncheon. I’m looking forward to greeting at the women’s meeting this morning and then coming home to spend the day doing chores and reading my new book.
