It was nice to get outside and enjoy the weird weather yesterday. I fully embraced my role as team cheerleader—that was the extent of my involvement in the raft building. I did my part for my alumni service position by helping set up and clean up the event, but when it came to actually constructing the raft, I left that to the “professionals.” And I use that term very loosely. None of us had any real experience building a floating device out of PVC, cardboard, and duct tape. My roommate did watch a couple of YouTube videos though, so obviously, that made us the most qualified.
I’m just going to go ahead and declare our raft the winner because, in my opinion, it was the best actual floating device. Who cares that we didn’t win the race?
Afterward, I heard the infamous Meeting Crashers were planning to hit the Meridian 8 p.m. meeting. I had to take a nap with my sweet Poppy if I had any hope of making it to a meeting that late. The Crashers are this group that meets for dinner and then randomly shows up to a meeting in a different city once a month. It’s such a cool idea—the people who don’t usually attend the meeting bring a fresh burst of energy and a different perspective. The topic tonight was great too. I definitely want to find out more and see if I can join the cool kids club.
