A Skip in My Step

What a busy week already—and it’s only Tuesday! I don’t know what put the skip in my step, but today was a great day. Before the women’s meeting, I got to meet with my sponsor to finish my 10th and 11th Steps. We still have some reading left to do in the Big Book, and now that she’s gone through my amends letters and red-lined the shit out of them, it’s time for me to start making those amends. It feels big—but I know I’m ready.

The meeting tonight was extra special. We celebrated a friend’s 37th sobriety birthday. Just saying and typing that gives me chills. She is such an inspiration and always shares from a place of deep wisdom and insight.

I love the sobriety and strength I’m surrounded by in that meeting. No matter what I’m going through, there’s always someone who has been through the same thing—if not more than one person. It’s comforting and empowering all at once.

I met my sponsor at this meeting. I’ll never forget how full of life and happiness she was when she gave me my 60-day coin. In that moment, I knew I wanted her in my life.

Tonight, I feel peaceful. I’m going to sleep well.
