A Big Small World of Women

I got to start the day and week opening up the meeting room and making coffee while a friend is on vacation this week. I knew who the monthly speaker was going to be this morning and was excited to hear her story. As soon as women started arriving, I quickly put the puzzle pieces together and was beyond happy to see so many women from the Tuesday evening women’s meeting. It’s a big small world!

There were lots of birthdays to celebrate and the speaker’s story really resonated with me. She talked about struggling with mental health from a young age and using alcohol as a temporary solution to numb the pain and emotions. It was inspirational to hear her experience, strength, and hope.

It was also great hearing women who don’t usually attend this meeting say they felt the same way after checking it out. So many beautiful and strong women, oddly energetic to gather on a Sunday morning at 10 o’clock when we could all be in bed or at home relaxing. Instead, we choose to show up and support each other.

After the meeting, I was able to spend some quality time with my daughter and her horse. I’m so grateful that I get to be part of her life. I’m repairing our relationship by making a living amends—by showing up, being present, and proving through my actions that she can trust me again. Slowly but surely, I’m gaining that trust back. One day at a time.
