There have already been so many holidays in my sobriety. I guess that’s what happens when you go to rehab at the beginning of November. They still make me nervous, but I keep myself busy and my mind occupied to replace drunken memories, or even blackouts, with fun sober memories.

Tonight, I had book club and, of course, tacos. We discussed The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon, which we read in April. It was nice to read a non-AA, non-self-improvement book for the first time in several months. I am really excited to read this month’s book Blackout: Remembering The Things I Drank To Forget by Sarah Hepola. I started listening to it this morning and can’t wait to hear more. I can already relate to what I’ve heard so far. I’m sure there will be parts that are difficult to listen to because they will hit really close to home.

I’m grateful to my friend who suggested the book for this month, as I am also working on my Fourth Step, focusing on resentments and wrongdoings. It’s an emotional step that is proving to be very freeing, the more that I put my #2 to paper and let things out.
