I almost skipped the Gem State Roundup 2026 Committee Planning meeting tonight. I was tired, but I went anyway, and I’m glad I did. Sitting in the meeting, I was reminded how much I wanted to be part of this convention in some capacity. I wasn’t sure what role would make sense until the conversation unfolded.
It quickly showed that organization and follow-up were areas where I could contribute. The group agreed, and I am officially the Committee Secretary. This position feels like a solid fit and a practical way for me to be of service. I like structure, I keep track of details, and this role will let me put those skills to use for something that matters to a lot of people. I can help in other areas as the need arises, but this is solid for me.
I’m excited about what this Roundup can become. The committee wants to make 2026 better—and hopefully bigger—than the past few years, and I think with some consistent effort and coordination we can pull that off. It’s motivating to see where I can add value to the process.
I’m also recognizing that right now I don’t feel pulled toward sponsorship. That doesn’t mean I won’t in the future, but at the moment this role is where I can focus my energy. It gives me direction, accountability, and a way to contribute without stretching into something I’m not ready for.
