I didn’t want to go to work today. But I sure as hell didn’t want to go to the mall either. So, I’m grateful for work even though I’m exhausted today. I’m also grateful for my family coming to town and getting to spend time with them. My brother and nieces are leaving in the morning, but I was able to spend a few hours visiting with them over dinner after work. My poor brother looked like how I felt from his day of shopping with all the girls and swimming with his youngest.
I put the skills and tools I’ve learned to good use, trying to find a kid-friendly restaurant to accommodate our large party on a Friday night. Why the fuck doesn’t anyone take reservations anymore? I found myself repeating the Serenity and Third Step prayers over and over, and over, again. They made me feel better because I needed the reminder that I can’t control other people, places, or things. I have to change my way of thinking or change myself to get through tough situations. I think I did a fairly good job at it and had a great time later.
It’s weird how these kids keep growing up and the seniors get more seniority, but I’m still the same. Ha!
