I love the relationships I’m building with the women in my home group, including my sponsor. I enjoy the co-ed meetings and wouldn’t trade them for anything. But it’s nice to get together with just the women once a week and talk about women’s shit, shit we wouldn’t talk about with guys.
I shared for the third time tonight about my 90-day sobriety achievement, and it finally came from the heart this time. I just couldn’t get into it the first two times. I tried to say what was in my head, but it didn’t come out right. I think I psyched myself out because I knew I would have to share three times. A friend was getting her 19-year chip tonight too. I was happy to be there and experience firsthand how the program works if you work it. She also talked about her gratitude for the women’s group and said there is a saying I had never heard before, “The men will pat your ass, the women will save your ass”. I love that!
Today I also got a cool gift from two amazing women who have been in my life for a very, very long time and are so supportive of my recovery. They were on vacation in Sedona, AZ, and visited the Chapel Of The Holy Cross. It is literally built into the red rocks, and Google says #1 out of the top 10 attractions to see in Sedona. They brought me a silver coin with the sobriety tree on one side, and the serenity prayer on the other. I keep it in my abalone shell with all of my sobriety coins and treasure trinkets that protect them.
